Sham Shui Po DX Design Gallery | Plaything Journal Exhibition presented by Hong Kong Design Centre

Description
The exhibition, hosted by the Hong Kong Design Centre and co-organized by the Creative Entrepreneurs Association (IEA), will be held at the first-floor exhibition hall of the DX Design Gallery from September 17 to October 4, leading audiences into the vibrant and evolving world of Hong Kong's trend toys (trendy toys) and intellectual property (IP).
Since the 1990s, Hong Kong designers have established the city's pioneering position in the global trendy toy design industry with their original spirit and innovative ideas. The Plaything Journal exhibition brings together a diverse range of local works, from surrealistic art dolls to character designs incorporating local cultural elements, fully showcasing the dynamic and versatile nature of Hong Kong's creative design scene.
Breaking free from the boundaries of trendy toys, the exhibition guides audiences through the transformation of a character born from a comic or digital sketch into a sought-after collectible, and its extension into various fields such as commercial fashion and lifestyle products, demonstrating the limitless commercial and creative potential of a powerful IP.
The core of this exhibition is not merely a retrospective, but a vision for the future. We are proud to present works by emerging designers whose bold and innovative creations will redefine the future of the industry and inspire the new generation of creators to continue pushing boundaries.
A guided tour of 'Urban Discourse - Knitwear Impressions' will also be arranged on the media preview day. The exhibition is currently held at the former DX Design Gallery, using yarn as a creative medium and exploring Hong Kong's evolution through the intertwined perspectives of design, culture, and architecture.
